Cat-lovers of the world (I'm more of a dog person, myself!): snag this adorable "Whiskers" ring for only US$22.95
at whalesdirect.com (they sell a variety of animal-themed items). If tiny beasties aren't your thing, go for a bold graphic; the Nanie Planete ring is one of several styles in the Anisette collection, all available at illicodesign.com. The silver-plated adjustable bands with resin toppers start at US$39.

I love everything made by UK silversmith/jeweller Robert Wallis! All his rings have a simple, clean yet organic feel, and that something extra that makes them stand out (I know I seem to say that about all the rings I link to, but it's extra true this time!): soldering-on.co.uk

You'll never guess what this quirky ring is made of a miso soup bowl! Japanese artist Mikiko Minewaki studied at the Hiko Mizuno College of Jewellery in Tokyo; they have a shop in Harajuku called corazón + corazón where you can buy students' work at great prices. I covet that red sponge ring!

These giant flower rings from the aptly-named o mon dieu! are two kinds of "geous" OUTRAgeous and GORgeous. Now, if only I had somewhere to wear them!

Create an instant heirloom with a photo ring from photojewels.com. Choose from eight different ring styles! Go with one of the moody black and white photos inserted by the artist ($140), or have the piece customized with your own photo (starting at $175).
